Healthy Eating

In recent years the government has placed a great deal of emphasis upon the poor state of the nation’s health. There is an increasing number of people dying from preventable diseases such as coronary heart disease and other illness brought on by poor nutrition and sedentary lifestyles. As a result there is a massive amount of effort being poured into getting people to realise that they cannot go on eating whatever junk food they wish and not doing any exercise. There are many government led campaigns currently underway to try and raise public awareness of these issues.
The rising level of obesity amongst school aged children is of particularly concern and studies show that in the near future an incredibly high proportion of children will be obese. As a result there have been many measure put in place to try and curb this trend such as reducing the amount of unhealthy and high fat foods available in school canteens. Also, they have been many restrictions placed upon the many that unhealthy food can be marketed and advertises have been stopped from aggressively marketing these products directly towards children.  This, coupled with a greater emphasis placed upon physical activities and sports in schools is hoped to make an impact upon the general health of children in the UK. If you have children then you should encourage them to eat healthy and engage in plenty of outdoor physical activities.
